展览预告伟大的格调--致敬雷内·马格利特René Magritte



---------------前言---------------


  雷内·马格利特堪称谜题创作的大师。作为20世纪比利时最为卓越的超现实主义画家,其画作恰似谜语或隐喻。马格利特对符号、神话和信仰怀有浓厚兴趣,常以幽默的方式对其加以剖析或讽刺,其风格展现出有意识的中性与精确特质。

  马格利特认为,对物体的描绘并不等同于物体本身,“虚”与“实”、“抽象”与“具象”之间需要达成恰如其分的平衡,将主体的存在提升至新的匿名性与普遍性层面,并从图像的呈现中剔除一切他所摒弃的被视为艺术主观性的元素,这便是超现实主义绘画的艺术效果。

  回顾马格利特的艺术生涯,不难察觉其最初作为商业艺术家的这一经历,对其整个创作生涯产生了影响。马格利特通往图像的途径包括平面设计、绘画、写作和视觉创意,可见在四十年的创作历程中,其风格发生了诸多可被观察与描述的变化。

  此次在天津空港美术馆举办的如此规模的马格利特作品展览,集中展出了多幅石版画作品。他借助“风景”“人物”“引语”等元素对自身艺术进行反思,这正体现了马格利特对绘画作为媒介的审慎思考。

  Rene Magritte can be regarded as a master of riddle creation. As the most outstanding Belgian surrealist painter of the 20th century, his paintings resemble riddles or metaphors. Magritte harbored a deep fascination with symbols, myths, and beliefs, often dissecting or satirizing them with humor. His style exhibits a consciously neutral and precise quality.

Magritte believed that the depiction of an object does not equate to the object itself. There must be a precise balance between the "real" and the "illusory," the "abstract" and the "concrete." By elevating the subject's existence to a new level of anonymity and universality, and by removing all elements he rejected as subjective to art from the image's presentation, this is the artistic effect of surrealist painting.

Looking back on Magritte's artistic career, it is not difficult to discern how his initial experience as a commercial artist influenced his entire creative journey. Magritte's path to imagery encompassed graphic design, painting, writing, and visual creativity, revealing numerous observable and describable shifts in his style over the course of his forty-year creative process.

The exhibition of Magritte's works held at the Tianjin Airport Art Museum showcased multiple stone print works. He used elements such as "scenery," "characters," and "quotes" to reflect on his own art, which reflects Magritte's careful consideration of painting as a medium.

  雷内·马格利特(1898~1967),20世纪比利时最杰出的超现实主义画家,对波普艺术的影响十分重大。他出生于莱西讷。曾在布鲁塞尔艺术学院学习,后开始超现实主义绘画的探索。他于1967年逝世于布鲁塞尔,享年69岁。1927~1930年居住在巴黎,此后一直住在布鲁塞尔。早期受立体派,未来派及纯粹主义的综合影响。1925年他深受基里科的影响,因此放弃自己早期的风格。他将突兀,不合理的物体并列,同时营造一种安静,近似恍惚的气氛,借此表达他对神秘世界的感觉。他和达利不同,他不以绘画表现个人的困惑或幻想;他作品的特色是智慧,讽刺,还有一种机智论辩的精神,而非自我披露。1943~1946 年,他采用印象主义的画风和颜料。1947年冬到1948年他所谓的野兽派时期,他画了一系列色彩强烈,意象怪异的杰出作品,批评家对于实验性的作品反映一般都不佳,于是他又回到他熟悉的风格。他对波普艺术的影响十分重大。作品有《夜的意味》,《袭击》,《白纸委任状》。自1960年代起,马格利特的作品引起公众的高度兴趣,更影响普普艺术、简约主义及概念主义。

  René Magritte (1898–1967), the most outstanding Belgian Surrealist painter of the 20th century, had a significant influence on Pop Art. He was born in Lessines and studied at the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels before embarking on his exploration of Surrealist painting. He passed away in Brussels in 1967 at the age of 69. From 1927 to 1930, he lived in Paris and resided in Brussels thereafter.In his early years, Magritte was influenced by Cubism, Futurism, and Purism. In 1925, deeply inspired by de Chirico, he abandoned his earlier style. He juxtaposed abrupt and irrational objects while creating a quiet, almost trance-like atmosphere to express his perception of a mysterious world. Unlike Dalí, Magritte did not use painting to convey personal confusion or fantasy; his works are characterized by wit, irony, and a spirit of clever debate rather than self-revelation.Between 1943 and 1946, he adopted an Impressionist style and palette. From the winter of 1947 to 1948, during his so-called Fauvist period, he produced a series of remarkable works with strong colors and bizarre imagery. However, critics generally responded poorly to these experimental works, prompting him to return to his familiar style.Magritte’s influence on Pop Art was profound. His notable works include The Meaning of Night, The Assault, and The Blank Signature. Since the 1960s, Magritte’s works have garnered widespread public interest and have significantly influenced Pop Art, Minimalism, and Conceptualism.

---------------艺术解读---------------


  这张是马格利特早期的作品,创作于1924年的《Youth》。我2017年在Berkeley Art Museum and Pacific Film Archive「BAMPFA」偶然看到,特别喜欢。画面由于灯光的原因偏了黄调,和我们印象中的马格利特实在是不一样。但饱满的配色、模糊的城市、变形的窗口、若现的女人、半隐的彩裙。这是他早期编织的梦境,一次次的建构、打散再重建,就像把画里的碎片一片片捡拾了起来。


"要成为一个超现实主义者,就意味着你要将你所见到过的一切从脑海中抹去,并持续寻找你从未见过的东西。"

只能在表象的背后看到世界。”


"我的画是显而易见的,什么都不隐藏,唤起了神秘。事实上,当你看到我的画时,人们会问:这意味着什么?这并不意味着任何,神秘没有意义,它是未知的。"


  "我看到笼子里是一个蛋,而不是一只鸟。于是,我抓住了一种惊人的诗意奥秘。我所感受到的惊异确实是由鸟笼和蛋这两个对象之间的内在联系所唤起, 而这以前我总是借助于把无关的事物安排在一起来引起这种震惊。"


  马格利特,他的悖论张力、违背因果、重新解读、打破常规、不断质疑。他诱发了观者窥探的机制,激发思考和探索的欲望,本身就是一种引人入胜的善行。
  内心主导着我们对世界的解读和体验。在已然荒谬的如今,混乱的当下,躲进超现实主义的世界,构建一个属于自己的奇幻天地。拥抱自己的古怪,这是一条特别的路径。
